FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO CREATE YOUR ONLINE NEAR STORE AND START DELIVERING

 

STEP 1: SETUP YOUR BUSINESS EMAIL ON THE NEAR TABLET

This is how you will receive alerts and notifications on your tablet when orders arrive.  Return to this tablet's homepage (by clicking the circle at the bottom of the screen) and click the "mail" icon.  Follow the mail application's instructions to setup your business email account on the NEAR tablet - making sure you use the email address you submitted to NEAR.delivery to signup.

STEP 2: CHECK YOUR EMAIL FOR AN INVITATION FROM NEAR.DELIVERY

In your inbox, you should have an invitation from NEAR.delivery.  In that email, click on the “Sign Up Now” link. This link can only be used by you!

 

STEP 3: CREATE YOUR NEAR ACCOUNT

Enter the business information requested and create your account to get started.

 

STEP 4: COMPLETE YOUR NEAR PROFILE

Once you’ve signed up, finish entering your business’ information directly into your profile. This is the information about your business that customers will be able to view, including store information, store hours, and links to your social media pages!

 

STEP 5: ENTER YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFO

Have your routing number and account number ready for the bank account you’d like to receive direct deposits. Payments on the NEAR.delivery platform are secured by STRIPE.  Not familiar with stripe?  Find out more at https://stripe.com/payments

 

STEP 6: ADD YOUR PRODUCTS TO YOUR STORE

Tell customers about your products! This is where you give detailed descriptions about your product, upload photos and select your preferred pickup or delivery methods (if you have a lot of this information stored on your computer, you may find it easier to complete this step on your computer instead of the NEAR tablet).  And, don’t forget to mention if your product is Made in DC! 

STEP 7: BEGIN ACCEPTING ORDERS

Once an order is placed, you will receive an alert via email and text message.  Your NEAR tablet will also notify you with an alert.  Those alerts will notify you of what is in the order so you can begin to prepare it.   

 

STEP 8: PREPARE YOUR PRODUCTS FOR DELIVERY

Using the materials provided to you in the NEAR Starter Kit (or utilizing your own materials), package the order for pickup.  Your NEAR.delivery bags have lines on the back for you to write the name and address of your customer (we also provided you with a marker for just this purpose).  Once you have put all of the items in the bag and written the customer’s name and address on the appropriate lines, staple the bag closed with the Starter Kit's enclosed stapler. 

STEP 9: NOTIFY US THAT THE ORDER IS READY FOR PICKUP

At the bottom of the screen of your NEAR tablet, you will find an "E" that takes you to www.near.delivery.  Once you are on the NEAR.delivery homepage, login as a “Store Owner” (see the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner).  Using the same email address and password you created in Step 2 (above), login and then click on the “Orders” tab.  When you order is completely ready, click the “Alert Courier” button so the courier knows to come to you for pickup. 

 

STEP 10: INFORM THE CUSTOMER THAT THEIR ORDER IS ON ITS WAY

Once the courier has arrived, click on the “Order to Courier” button so the customer knows the order is enroute.

 

STEP 11: GET PAID

Once the courier has delivered the order, you will receive an email and text alert notifying you.  Payment will be deposited into the bank account you provided within 2-5 days.
